Dishlex Global 300 Stops At Prewash

adrenaline theater

Until now I felt really well with the Drankensberg Sun Certainly the hills and mountains here are beautiful, but with the Alps, they can match it yet. To this day, now I know why the Drakensberg are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The reason is called "Amphitheatre".

Since we have the "backpacker's" tours offered at that amphitheater is too expensive and we do not fully squelching and blatant style of backpacker owner like, we decide the offered tour easy to do on your own, thus giving only just a quarter of the tour cost from.

on a pretty bad road, for our two-wheeled car is just about feasible, we reach Phuthaditjhaba (who can pronounce it?) The Sentinel Carpark in breezy 2540 m altitude. Here are we leave our car and set out on the way to the 3000m peaks of the Drakensberg. The landscape here is already very spectacular, but the comparison with the Alps, they can not resist, so we continue to run. The first Super views we receive from a viewpoint just off the road. Out of nowhere, we suddenly see the 1000 m high and 8 km long vertical wall of the "amphitheater" screw up before us to heaven. The "Amphitheatre" the part of the Drankensberg called, which rises from the Sentinel to the Eastern Buttress like an old Roman amphitheater in a semicircle above the valleys and canyons of the Royal Natal NP. The view and the scenery is really fantastic, but there's more!

Experience the next highlight of this hike, we at the chain ladders to the plateau. Twice we have 20 m and 40 m vertical climb up the rock on iron rope ladders, unsecured nota bene. There is only one motto: "Do not look down!". The first adrenaline is inevitable, but it gets even better!

Finally on reached the plateau, we follow the Tugela river until it suddenly disappears into nothingness. We are at 1000 m deep boundary of the "amphitheater". On a total of 5 levels of the Tugela falls 850 m in depth. The view down into the "valley" is simply breathtaking. Our knees are suddenly very soft when we attempt to grope our way slowly to the vertical sloping rock wall. I have never seen one so impressive rock formation in front of me. Left and right projecting cliffs hundreds of feet vertically into the air. In the valley we see the winding canyons and hills of the park. Behind us, the vast plains of the plateau is with the peaks of the Drakenberg. The ultimate adrenaline rush, we obtain But if we simply stare down into the void or depth to do this light dizziness.

are unfortunately more and more clouds in the afternoon along the rock high. Thus our view of the amphitheater will be gradually restricted. We decide the "Escarpment" to leave and compete with the "Gully" the way back to the Carpark. The "Gully" is an extremely steep, narrow gorge, which is like really more of a scree slope. Through this scree slope, we must descend about 200 meters. One can well imagine that this is the final death of each knee. Accordingly, I move slowly and cautiously down me. Memories of the Piz Aul be monitored (Gruss Nico and Päde!).

Carpark back when we are both agreed that the so-called "Sentinel Trail" was one of the most spectacular hikes that we have ever done. Meanwhile, we are downright happy that we had to make a little detour back from the Sani Pass - the "amphitheater" has given us a show of superlatives.
